About this event
Meet the mountain this summer in Silverton. The Kendall Mountain Run starts on Greene Street in downtown Silverton at 9,318 feet and climbs jeep roads to within 300 vertical feet of the summit, then finishes with a thrilling scramble to the top at 13,066 feet and a fast descent to the finish in Memorial Park.
The 11K climbs the same jeep road to the turnaround at Deer Park and returns to Memorial Park. Both distances start together at 7:00 AM.
The race dates back to a legendary 1908 bar bet, when local miner Neil McQuieg was backed to climb and descend Kendall in an hour and a half. He reached the top in 1:07:40 and was back in town in 1:31:42. The bet was lost, but the tradition was born.
