About this event
The Bear Chase is a two day trail running festival at beautiful Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood: the 100K, 50 Mile and 50K on Saturday and the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K on Sunday. It is an excellent race for first time trail runners and ultramarathoners, with challenging terrain, sweeping panoramic views and a course that is pretty fast by trail standards and not overly technical.
The ultras run laps of the 12.5 mile Orange loop, 99% soft surface and singletrack, with aid at Homestead, Cattail Creek and the start/finish at Big Soda Lake Beach: five laps for the 100K, four for the 50 Mile, and one Blue loop plus two Orange for the 50K. Crews can help only at the start/finish, and 100K and 50 Mile runners may pick up a pacer after 3:00 PM.
A portion of every registration goes to the City of Lakewood and Bear Creek Lake Park to help fund open space preservation.
