Arizona Night Runs

Arizona summers are too hot for daytime desert racing, so the season moves to headlamps. The Insomniac Night Trail Run Series runs from April to September in Maricopa County regional parks: Sinister at San Tan Mountain, Adrenaline at McDowell Mountain, Hypnosis at Estrella Mountain, Stunner at Usery Mountain, Vertigo at White Tank Mountain and Jangover back at McDowell. Distances run from 6K to 75K, with starts between 5 PM and 8:30 PM. The fall and winter night races are shorter, such as Punisher at Usery, Mayhem at McDowell and the Jackass 31K on Javelina weekend. Blackout Night Runs adds a June race in the Flagstaff pines at Fort Tuthill, and Jackrabbit Jubilee runs 6 or 12 hours overnight at Nardini Manor in Buckeye.
